I’ve been watching Burn Notice a lot recently and every episode features many close up shots of actors with sunglasses. But every time I look at the reflection, I never see any film gear. Obviously, if the glasses are shot at an angle, nothing will show, but many of the close up shots involve the actors turning their faces from one side to the other. Do they edit the reflections out?

Perhaps they are shooting from a distance and are zoomed close up. Cameras are really good at that now :-D

Sunglasses would come into effect and that applies even when as you would be picked up by the camera will still reflect away from the above the action axis.

They use a polarizing filter on the camera’s lens.
